Chapter 2

"How E-Biz Rose, Fell, and Will Rise Anew"
by Robert D. Hof and Steve Hamm, on BusinessWeek Online, [Online], May 13, 2002.

This article parallels the development of the Internet (electronic connections) to the development of the railroad system in historic England. The authors argue that like the railway system, the development of the Internet has been rapid and at times chaotic. They also argue that while E-commerce and dot.com companies have experienced a shakeout, the levelling out and continued growth of E-commerce is inevitable.

"20 Reasons to Put Your Business on the WWW"
by Stormy Knight, on Net 101 [Online], June 7, 2002.

This article provides an excellent overview of why companies should have an Internet presence. These reasons include providing information to consumers, increasing sales, and moving a company into the global market.
